Sources within the Self Defense Force have indicated that they found an object headed toward the Whisper System. According to information received by INN, the object has a similar signature to a cargo hauler, but they declined to elaborate further.
When asked what this object could mean, Admiral Desmoulins said that the SDF was actively tracking a “suspicious object on an apparent collision course with Independence Station. The nature of this object is unknown at this time. While we have raised the threat level to condition two, we are not classifying this object as a threat at this time.” She went on to advise those present at her press conference that there are a number of newly freed morphs who are using anything they can get their paws on. “Often, our brothers and sisters are coming here to find a new life, by using ships held together by epoxy and tape.”
She further explained that we’ve had several near crash landings from vessels that had near systems failures on approach. “The Whisper System Self Defense Forces have trained regularly and are training hard to ensure that we can face whatever this vehicle may be bringing here. Once the object is within live sensor range, which will be about a week from now, we can get a good view of what it is and the situation. Until that time, the SDF is preparing for the possibility that it could be a dead stick… that it could have suffered a complete flight systems failure during their last jump and their fail safes kicked in and transitioned them back to normal space. By the flip of that credit, we are running constant drills on our defense grid platforms, both staffed and unstaffed, in the event that this is a very sly attack by the slaving criminals that are terrorizing our borders.”
Councilor Galaxy, who was also present at the press conference, merely stated her confidence in the military for ensuring the continued safety of the system and our planet. “Our forces are monitoring the situation and preparing for every probable outcome. The Council has the upmost faith in High Admiral Desmoulins and Home Fleet to ensure the safety of our citizens.” When asked what she was told, she merely said that the Council was personally briefed by Admiral Desmoulins and that the SDF was on top of the situation. The other council members were unavailable for comment.
