Whisper System OOC Charter

The Whisper System is based on the stories and writings of K. Kaze Fox, and, in that regard, is a themed role play community.  It is fairly open generic science fiction, and if you can scientifically explain your character it’ll probably be allowed.  Especially given genetic engineering, nearly any type of creature is able to be created.  The history is available to read.

OOC Rules and Regulations

TL;DR: Respect is the rule.  Show respect and we’re good.

The rules are the rules.  And we have ours to protect ourselves, our residents, our guests, and the sim itself.  As such, we have written these OOC rules and we expect everyone to follow them.  Ignorance is no excuse.

  1. Administration structure. The administration staff is divided into three groups.
    1. Head Administration is a council of three persons. On most issues involving the head administration, a simple majority is required for an action.  On actions involving the hiring and firing of administration staff, a unanimous decision must be reached.
    2. Administration Staff are responsible for day to day operations. In general, an administrator’s decision is final when it comes to the enforcement of these rules.  Decisions may be appealed to an administration panel, and possibly to the head administrators.
    3. Moderators are there to handle minor issues and help with setting up story progress and other role play issues.
  2. Where these rules and the Second Life Terms of Service (ToS) conflict, the ToS have precedence.
  3. All players are expected to show dignity and respect to all other players.
    1. Out of Character (OOC) consent is required, especially for any action that either does or can injure another player.
    2. Harassment, abuse, and related activities can result in an immediate ejection from the sim(s). Further incidents may result in the actor being permanently banned.
      1. This includes any forms of discriminatory remarks made out of character, including but not limited to race, gender, religion, species, sexual orientation or preference, age, ethnicity, political views, or experience.
      2. Gestures are included in this clause.
      3. To reasonable extent, IC discrimination does not violate this clause unless this activity goes out of character.
    3. Talking behind someone’s back does constitute harassment for these rules.
  4. Spamming, advertising, or constantly repeating the same phrase(s) over and over is not permitted.
    1. This includes gesture spamming, or repeatedly using gestures to the distraction and annoyance of others.
    2. If you’re asked to stop, you must stop. This is regardless of if the requestor is an administrator, moderator, or fellow player.
  5. No OOC Drama. This includes rumors, escalating arguments into local or group chats, etc.
    1. Do not confuse IC and OOC. If your character is having a fight with another character, that’s perfectly acceptable as long as it stays in character.  Once it goes out-of-character, step back.
    2. We want this sim to be fun for everyone. If you’re having problems with someone, talk with a moderator or administrator if you cannot resolve it via instant messages.  Or use the “block” or “mute” option of your viewer.
  6. Avatars should be reasonable.
    1. All avatars should have a reasonable explanation for why they exist.
    2. Avatars of excessive size are not permitted. They wouldn’t realistically fit on a star ship.
    3. Child and Cub Avatars are accepted under certain guidelines.
      1. Please, if your child/cub has any kind attachment, ensure that they are set silent, both in text as well as in sounds. No exceptions.
      2. Do not solicit for care takers or care-taker type actions.
      3. Act your character’s age when in character. And just because you may be playing a child avatar doesn’t mean you have to be a trouble maker.  Most kids are good kids.
      4. We allow certain amounts of written vocalizations (onomatopoeia), as long as it’s in IC spoken blocks. This also applies to typing accents.
    4. Ferals are permitted. Sentient ferals are permitted as well.
    5. Please avoid excessive script use. We are not currently using any kind of script meters at the moment and would like to not implement them.
    6. Whisper citizens are encouraged to maintain weapons to protect themselves and their world from attackers.
      1. Given that the IC history includes a 20 year revolution, most Whisper citizens have weapons for the common defense.
      2. RPs involving shootings should seek approval of the moderators.
    7. Most Whisper citizens come from slaves. While many have abandoned those origins, some find it harder to escape there psychological programming.
      1. It is generally considered acceptable to show master-slave (or master-pet) relationships in pubic, overt sexual acts are not permitted.
      2. IC actions have IC consequences. Some citizens may try to “help” the slave/pet.
  7. There are various apartments for rent both on ground as well as in the space station. Each rental has the following requirements.
    1. Please stay within your prim limits. We will warn you when you go over prim limits.
    2. Sexual activity is permitted only within your rental property. Outside of your rental, please keep it PG.
    3. We do not guarantee privacy. IC actions result in IC consequences.
    4. No parcel-wide music players as we do not have individual parcels.
    5. No skyboxes without explicit approval. These interfere with our space station.
    6. Merchants must abide by these same rules with the exception of no sexual activity in public places (including stores).
  8. If you are wishing to establish an organization, please contact administration. Rental rates can be negotiated at that time, as well as office spaces.
    1. Faction owners should be available on a fairly reliable basis, and respond quickly to instant messages and/or notecards as quickly as possible.
    2. Faction owners are responsible for recruiting their personnel.
    3. Factions must comply with the sim rules and the Second Life ToS.
  9. No metagaming or god-moding.
    1. Metagaming or god-modding will result in a ban.
    2. A definition of God-Moding may be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godmoding
    3. Meta-Gaming is defined at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metagaming
  10. Whisper is not a sandbox. Any building projects require administration approval.
    1. Unpacking purchases is allowed provided that they are picked up within five minutes.
    2. Rezzing things for an active role-play is also permitted. If it needs to be left for an extended permitted, contact administration for approval.
    3. No rezzing of scripted pets/babies/etc. If you’re not here, they don’t need to be either.
    4. No offensive material should be rezzed.
    5. Limit script usage, please.
  11. Release of liability
    1. We are not responsible for actions or inactions of other players.
    2. We are not responsible for actions of Second Life and Linden Labs.
    3. Just in case it was missed somewhere else, we are not endorsed, sponsored, affiliated, partners of, or probably even known by Linden Research.  We are grateful to Linden Research for creating Second Life®, and that’s the limit of our association with them.
